After his participation to the XXII UIA Congress in Istanbul FIG
President Holger Magel made an official visit to Ankara and had a
meeting with the Turkish FIG member association, the Chamber of Surveying
and Cadastral Engineers (HKMO). As the Chamber is strongly interested in
land consolidation Magel's gift to HKMO President Hüsein Ülkü was the
proceedings of the FIG Commission 7 Annual Meeting and Workshop in Clermont
Ferrand last year (see picture). President Ülku announced that the Chamber
is going to strengthen its contributions to FIG commissions work by
nominating new delegates. Against the background of the intended accession
of Turkey to European Union Prof. Magel was asked to give two lectures about
“European policy for rural development” and “New paradigms in Land
Consolidation”. One of the attentive listeners was the Director General
of the Turkish Land Registry and Cadastre M. Zeki Adli.
